Scent and Wellness

Its fascinating the way we are drawn or repelled by different aromas, colors and sounds.

Today I am working with African pink pepper, Western Australian Sandalwood and Jasmine.   Pink brown and yellow are the colors of warmth and calm is the effect of these oils.   I am blending them into an exotic asian inspired oil I created a few weeks ago for a wellness client.

Besides smelling gorgeous this floral, yet earthy perfume brings one to a place of grounded quiet.   It gives one the feeling of sitting in a great cathedral or brings to mind the ambience of a majestic museum.   In fact, museums are often painted with amber hues to promote calm and quietitude.

Music, Scent and wellness therapies work beautifully together for me.  All of the work work I do resides in the realm of music with bass, middle and top note.  This is the basis of alchemy.  Each note evokes a special feeling, mood or memory.

Our world is indeed one of continual wonder and boring is not a word in my vocabulary.  Let's play.

Have a wonderful, peaceful holiday and may all of your dreams and aspirations come true.
Love Karina

Sunspirit

This company in Australia has some of the best essential oils and herbal extractions in the world.  I healed my hand after it being battered and bruised in one evening with the Arnica ointment.

Smell the Secret Seducer

Each of us have a personal scent or body odour, an olfactory chip.  Pheromones are present in all of us.  What matters in the body scent is the sum of all odours given off by a person.

Body odours or our olfactory chip are connected with race and upbringing, eating habits, hygiene and living conditions...values seen as the aggregate "+#chemosphere™".  We can recognize another by their body smell.

Choosing the right perfume is totally unique and individual and some scents just don't work with our particular body scent.    When I use rose or light geranium people go crazy...yet when my girlfriend wears the same mix, people turn their nose up and ask "what is that smell, smells like mosquito repellant".

Making a personalized scent is the way to go.   Finding the perfect blend.

Today I made myself an Asian inspired scent to warm and sit next to my heart.

Let me know if you are interested in your own blend from my Company Faith and Science. Each recipe will be stored with your personal number.. get your potion and number for life.

Happy Holidays

Unique Australian antimicrobial oils for your Family and Fall fallout

Today I am working with essential oils from my homeland Australia.   I feel transported by these medicinal oils... reminded of the bushland, trees and unique birds of my blessed childhood.    Lilli Pilli trees and giant red gums bleeding sticky sweet smelling nectar.   No wonder I always feel well back on the land, nature emanates its goodness into the air to cleanse and purify.

We rarely got sick because we were either running around amidst these wonderful trees or in the fresh salt water swimming and surfing.

The oils I am working with today are in the tea tree family but smell so much sweeter and can actually be used in perfumery.  As we move into winter we need to adjust our diet, homes and clothing appropriately.   Even though I am in Florida I make the effort to move with the seasons as our visitors bring with them the colds and flus from their home States and we experience a mild change of weather with chilly night.  Please read below for two very interesting topicals you can use to stay well.

Nerolina (Melaleuca quinquenervia) is distilled from the same Australian tea tree species as Niaouli. Nerolina Oil possesses a woody yet floral aroma reminiscent to lavender. Nerolina's content of the terpene alcohol linalool and the sesquiterpene nerolidol is responsible for imparting Nerolina Essential Oil with its sweet, floral, lavender-like aroma. Nerolina is used in perfumery/natural fragrancing. Nerolina Oil is a natural antiseptic and anti-bacterial and is useful during the cold season to treat head and chest cold.   This is the perfect time of year to be using an oil such as Nerolina.
Try using a base of almond oil and add a little lemon essential oil to cut the edge.

The other essential oil in the tea tree family I am working with is Rosalina - (Melaleuca ericifolia) also known as Lavender tea tree.  Direct from distilleries in Australia, this is the gentler form of tea tree, an excellent choice for children and those seeking an antimicrobial oil with a softer aroma.

Timing is Everything

#Timing, #alignment, #synchronicity.  There are many names for the feeling of right timing.
No matter if you know something and your partner ~friend~ business partner cannot see the reality of a situation.  We can never force that person to get what you might already get.  If we push for outcomes we push for early decisions that may not be ready for the other person.  It's up to us to decide whether this feels right for us.  Do we fit are we really right for each other.  Will this business flourish if these stagnate issues are unresolved... your mind may work faster than the other person's mind.  Surrender is key if we are to feel the purity of a decision that sits right within us.  We get scared because we do not wish to lose something so sometimes we add to the stagnation and keep it stuck, motionless and dead.

Business is practical and decisions must be made without the emotions.   If a business is run by emotions then we are in big trouble. If we sense something is wrong then it usually is.  Sensing is not emotion..it is other and counter to emotion.  Go with the sense but wait for the right timing.  Things are right to move when it is ready. Meantime tame the emotions, like stroking a wild cat, the clarity will come in the calm purring hum ... against the quite walls of a sacred space.

Today get your focus and stay calm.  Try citrus on your temples with a touch of lavendula augustafolia, sandalwood and rose to calm the heart and tonify the lungs.

Check out my Menu of Services for a weekend treatment if your spirit calls you.

Have a beautiful day.

Faith and Science

When faith and science began to merge together astrologically about ten years ago (btw I know little of astrology but do keep some fine company that are experts in this field), it was as if everything changed overnight.   For the few of us that worked in the realm of wellness and the healing arts and had long known the links between nature, science and the esoteric philosophies of most religions this acknowledgment came with a great sigh of welcomed relief.

The Dalai Lama was suddenly placed up there in the academic field with the physicists of the world and was brought into great discussions and experiments utilizing his knowledge and expertise on meditation, the importance of faith and acceptance of universal laws to find true lasting happiness.

For so many years the healing arts and associated modalities of acupuncture, massage, aromatic medicines, natural remedies and prevention were seen as woo woo and without merit or credibility. Again overnight we wellness practitioners were suddenly being welcomed into the more open minded hospital wards to bring our warm healing touch and old world remedies.   Simple, wholesome, healthy preventative measures and modern medicine coming together to serve body mind and spirit.

I myself ran a small wellness and spa program in Malibu and able to take my small child to work with me to play on the beach and watch the dolphins while I worked my own magic. To be able to create a work environment conducive to motherhood was a great gift.

I am writing about this as we continue to move into the Aquarian age and to experience these great changes, not that I have a choice.  Being connected and information is where we are right now.   I have to remind myself of the great things that are happening.  It is easy to get jaded and lose faith when things change so drastically, it can be hard to keep up and keep your sense of the simple real values in life. Each time change happens we have to surrender to the truth of what is. What is doesn't always match the way we would like it to be.

Schools sometimes get bogged down by the bureaucracies they must serve.   By attending such schools we can tend to get "stuck" in that belief system.  Its important to trust your own inner wisdom and then back it up with some education in the field.  However it is experience and truly listening to each individual to attain results that defines us as wellness practitioners.

Today I am looking into new oils from the Amazon for some of my new scents that I am working on. I am grateful to be able to work in America and have access to scientific minds now open to work with people such as myself and work with age old nature which remains when all the astrological ages and people within in them disperse to the ground of all things.

Faith, science and nature truly have come together. We are living in challenging times of adaptation.  We need the courage to surrender to our own true nature and the way things are.  Here is an interesting link to an astrology article I found today.  http://return2thesource.wordpress.com/2011/01/  Please contact me if you are interested in any of my wellness treatments listed on my blog on my Menu of Services page.

Inside the Skin of A woman

She walked in beauty through the night
and held her face up to the light, never thinking at the time
No it never crossed her mind
Just 5 minutes in a stranger's bed ..just long enough her youth deceived
and left her with a mouth to feed

So much more to her skin so deep, so much more than a fading beauty
If you look beneath you will see
Inside the Skin of a Woman

She left all of those she knew
thought there was something better she had to do
like embarrassment makes beautiful the shade of rose
so with the vulnerability she exposed
shes so much more than her skin  so deep
much more than a fading beauty if you look beneath you will see
Inside the Skin of a Woman

Now her babies have left home
she feels invisible and all alone
so much more than this skin so deep
much more than a fading beauty
If you look beneath you will see
Inside the skin of a woman

TODAY'S SKIN CARE REMEDY- #iAmSpa~^~

The Skin is an organ that reflects what we feel inside.  When our organs our sick. When we are off balance or we do not eat right our skin will let us know.

I am a big believer in the old remedies.  My girlfriend called me in a panic, "my face is falling off, it's burning". She had just put a very potent essential oil on her face undiluted.  Her face was burning and getting red and raw by the second.

I had her find some oats and a stocking, fill the stocking with the oats... soak in warm water... when the oats became milky, squeeze the milk and it apply all over her face.  The burns were gone and skin soothed within 20mins.
This is an old remedy. You can fill a stocking with oats and tie it to your bath faucet... let the water run over the oatmeal to make a beautiful milk bath.  All of the expensive colloidal products you find in the pharmacy are derived from oatmeal.

This remedy is also great for diaper rash, dry skin, and makes a wonderful face mask when you add egg and honey.

Enjoy.

Songs of Byzantine Flowers

I loved this one live too.... our shows were very ahead of their time.... very theatrical.

this is another one...for the Film Spirits of the Air Gremlins of the Clouds
a film by Alex Proyas.   This one won a few awards.

Blast from my past 1989 SPK

SKIN

Skin is a living breathing organ... affected by our emotions.
It is the largest organ of the body.   It feels, senses and detects... eg "makes my skin crawl", "that feels wonderful", "tickle my back"

The skin has a colour and a texture.   Judgments are made based on the colour of our skin.   How did that ever happen?

My father and I searched along the river banks for aboriginal cooking sites, cave drawings and empty shells once hunted and gathered by the local people, when I was a child.    Why did I not know one single aboriginal person in our community?.  I only saw aboriginal people down the coast and off the beaten track.   Aboriginal folklore and my father's fishing stories filled me with wonder and a feeling of being at home.    I didn't feel at home in the suburbs, I felt more at home in the Australian bush.... following the pathways of the ancient people that were there long before me.

This was the beginning of my journey into the study of herbs, flowers and plants, music and anything other than the world of television, stereotypes and school.   My secret world, introspection and reflection.    I want to thank my parents for allowing me to wander independantly and alone as a child to venture into nature and use my instinctual powers and skills.  These skills have made me the person I am happy to be today.

Take care of the skin you are in both on the inside and outside.   Go out of your way to experience someone else's culture.. taste their food, visit the markets. Open up your heart to a whole new world.

Today's recipe is simple and for the inside to make your skin glow.

Boil parsley and two cinnamon sticks, simmer and add a little raw honey.

Drink the tea for beautiful soft glowy skin.

Vision - One of my favourite creator's Jean Laporte

L’Artisan Parfumeur was founded in Paris in 1976 by perfumer-chemist Jean Laporte and was one of the first of a movement of exclusive niche fragrance houses inspired by nature and a desire to do things a little differently. A combination of classicism, avant-garde fragrance creation, innovative collaborations and an insistence of the highest quality materials has created a body of original, sometimes shocking work. This blending of artisanal fragrance creation and contemporary artistic flair has captured the heart of fragrance aficionados looking for quality, craftsmanship and authenticity.

Mûre et Musc

The iconic Mûre et Musc fragrance was created in 1978. A beautiful blend of blackberry and musk, its success was due to the witty and daring contrast in the structure between sparkling top notes and an enveloping warm evolution of the scent’s seductive development on the skin. The first of its kind on the market, it remains a global bestseller and set the benchmark for L'Artisan Parfumeur creativity. From our Grande Boutique in Paris opposite the Palais du Louvre, L’Artisan Parfumeur has expanded across the world, delighting and intriguing generations of perfume lovers with style, originality and that all important French je ne sais quoi.....
