Office Wellness

I am so excited to announce the expansion of Karina Hayes Wellness and Faith and Science Apothecary.  For the past 12 months I have been creating a new wellness program and working in the creative world of advertising, the heady world of law and in smaller business covering a variety of services. Its a serious endeavour to step into peoples lives authentically and bring the knowledge one has accumulated over time. I have had to learn to adapt to the many wonderful kinds of human beings, all with one thing in common, to feel good and increase productivity in the work place.

We are after all human and I as much as anybody else have my off days.   This can be daunting when working in the area of wellness I can beat myself up like the next person wondering if I really have the right to be doing this, can I really make a difference.   However on these days when my humanity causes doubt,  I have found that by stepping up to the task something magical happens almost always on a 9 out of 10 times basis.

When we work for the benefit of others, the pure intention of that somehow cancels out the bad day.  If we get out of the way and open ourselves up to really be present for what is going on around us,  and to give our expertise with truth and in the present, this is where the real miracles happen.

It is about hearing a person. Listening is one thing,  but it is hearing the wishes of another that travels to the heart to ruminate and digest what is heard, not just waiting for the person to finish so we can say what we want to say and do what we will do regardless.    Hearing opens up a world between you and another, listening to their body and where it needs to be attended and what the subconscious really wants.

For instance recently I was working for a production company that had a big job coming up.   The stress and anticipation of the day at hand was looming large in the room together with the buzz and hum of phones ringing, shouting across the room.  Clients screaming "I want it now".   It was hard to hear the requests of my clients storming in this malestrom of energy and tension.

My intentions and best plans for what I would be sharing that day flew proverbially, out of the window.
I myself stopped and decided to do my own practice for better guidance and figuring out what I would do that day.     I took the megaphone and very loudly with quiet demeanor announced that there would be a meditation session in 10 minutes.    (The megaphone was sitting on a large table in readiness for the production shoot in 4 days from then).

Long story short, most of the office including the client came to the meditation session. By the end of the session, hearts had calmed, minds in readiness to work together in unity rather than chaos, the result was a healing of client, advertising company and production company.   It really was an amazing day!

I continued the day by working with each individual in a more unstructured way but the result was more calm solid structure for them. People realized they were concerned about time constraints yet wasting serious time arguing.   I believe the 30 minute meditation ended up saving about one day of production time that may have been wasted arguing.  We shared tools to bring the questions most in front of them to be addressed one by one.  Productions can be overwhelming, and everyone gets spread way too thin, literally and exhaustion sets in .

I am posting this blog today to say thank you to my clients.  They know who they are and looking forward to working with more progressive companies that wish to bring value to their employees.
I have set my intention to work on a full time basis bringing wellness to the corporate infrastructure.  Smart people who meditate and look after their bodies and minds can make a real difference to the community at large.

Please check my Menu of services on the top left side of my home page of this blog and if you have an interest in knowing more please sign up with your email just below the About me etc.

I feel it a privilege and honor to work in this field.   Its been a long journey with many years of study and practice.   I feel we truly do live in a time where Faith and Science have come together to validate one another, rather than be opposed.

Please check out the Dalai Lama on meditation and Anton Zeilinger on quantum physics!

"Try to be mindful, and let things take their natural course. Then your mind will become still in any surroundings, like a clear forest pool. All kinds of wonderful, rare animals will come to drink at the pool, and you will clearly see the nature of all things. You will see many strange and wonderful things come and go, but you will be still. This is the happiness of the Buddha.

Accepting change

We all know that change is inevitable.  We welcome some changes and some we push away, usually afraid to make the actual change until it unfolds.

I remember Robert Evans an famous 70's film producer who changed the face of the film world said something quite profound on a relative level.  He said that "preparation meets opportunity".

I think this sentiment can be applied to anything, be it work, love, family and life in general.

We can't anticipate change.   The universe is changing at a rate we can't even begin to understand quite yet.   We can however prepare ourselves for changes that come by using meditation in our daily lives.  Meditation can be taken into our daily lives to support us even while we do ordinary mundane things or while we are actively engaged in the work place.

Today my blog is not going to focus on my own words but to share a website with you.  www.katogcholing.com.   Here I introduce my teacher of ten years, Khentrul Lodro Thaye Rinpoche.   Everything I do leads back to my core beliefs and path.   From having right livelihood and trying to be a good example to my son and supporting community at a level where it can be accepted and by showing up to support  Rinpoche's activities.   Not much in the grand scheme of things but at the very least an attempt to share something special.

Khentrul Ripoche offers himself tirelessly for the benefit of others.   His website is www.katogcholing.com
Here in Miami we host a practice group at www.katogtingzinling.com where you can check our calendar for what is coming up.

I am forever grateful and indebted to offer myself to benefit others to the best of my capacity.   It is until the very heart of understanding our own true nature  we embrace change at every moment and prepare our minds to the best of ability by taking up that which is of benefit and putting down that which causes harm.

Even on a daily level we can do something nice for another.   Perhaps we can create more generosity by preparing a small token of our love.

There maybe someone you know who has not been given anything for the longest time.   We can pick a flower, make some cookies or just offer a nice neck rub.  Have the most beautiful day and may all find true contentment and happiness!
